CATNIPS AUDITIONS

We are gearing up for our annual CATNIPS festival and we are looking for actors for a few of our plays. Auditions will be held this week Thursday February 27th at CAT from 5pm-8pm. Please book your 10 minute slot with Jeremy artisticdirector@centralalbertatheatre.ca or call at 403-309-0522. Those who audition are not asked to prepare anything but will be doing a cold read of the scripts. The name of the one acts are "Westbrook: A Victorian Love Story" written by Jessica Swainson and "King Trump" written by Courtney Boniface. Below is a rundown of characters they are hoping to cast.

Westbrook

A Victorian Love story

A young man in love must choose between love and  and his overbearing fathers business wishes.

Rehearsals will be scheduled to fit the actors schedule - more likely a
 few weeknights near the end of march. plus tech week.  Open to actors having roles in other plays and will schedule rehearsals accordingly.
 Charles - 18-30 year Male - Lead character - Young man
 Melissa - 18-30 year old Female - Charles Fiance'
 Robert - 35-65 year male Charles Father (very patriarchal, harsh)
  Mary - 35-65 year female Charles mother (supportive of both son and  husband. torn between their competing wishes)
 Thomas - 18-99 Probably male, but could be open to female.  The family butler.


King Trump

A Trumped Up Fairy Tale
 In King Trumps quest to make his kingdom great again, a fairy offers a solution, if he can answer the question "What do women want?"

 Rehearsals likely Sundays and perhaps 1 or 2 other evenings in the week.
 Some characters will be needed at every rehearsal.  others will have some
rehearsals off as they are only in 1/3 of the show.  Willing to arrange
 around actors schedules, and open to performers taking on other shows too.

 King Trump - (Can you do a good Donald Trump impression? We want to see it!)

The Fairy - Strong preference for a Trans Female or Non-binary actor for this role.  Age is not important.
 Narrator - News Media Personality - any gender or age
 Fox Narrator - News media personality - Female preferably
 Podcast Narrator - Alex Jones type character - Male Preferably
First Son - Cocky and Ambitious - male 15-35
 Second Son - Sex driven - Ambitious - male 15-35
 Third Son - Very kind and empathetic, supportive - male 15-35
 Hermit - Female - any age - will be made to look old and undesirable.

Each individual will be asked to prepare a 2 minute monologue, and also do a cold read from one of our featured plays of the season. If you do not have a monologue, we can provide one for you from our library which can be either gender neutral or gender specific. We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your audition.
