| About Central Alberta Theatre... |
|
From its humble beginning in 1970 Central Alberta Theatre has grown to epitomize, for thousands of Central Albertans, the good things in life here in the region: friendship, dedication, self-sufficiency, creativity and warmth of heart.
Over the years C.A.T. has lived up to its mandate to produce excellence and opportunity in theatre through Participation, Performance and Enjoyment. As an arts group C.A.T. offers its members training and opportunities to participate in a variety of theatrical productions throughout its season. People have come to realize that, through CAT, they can see themselves and their neighbours on the stage in a way never before experienced. In turn these productions fulfill some of the artistic and cultural needs of a diverse community audience. In addition, as the operator of the Red Deer Memorial Centre, the largest theatre in the City, Central Alberta Theatre plays host to a broad range of events including performing arts, music, film, and education. Involving local groups as well as touring attractions the Memorial Centre offers access for families, seniors, youths and adults, thereby enriching the overall quality of life in the region. Over 175 events are held in the theatre each year attracting over 80,000 people. The experience of live theatre is a powerful one and can enrich the lives of young and old alike. Central Alberta Theatre is committed to continuing its tradition of bringing "the arts" to people from all walks of life. |
